Research Laboratories and Central Research Facilities Resume Normal Operation
The pandemic situation has been gradually improving, and the Government is in the process of lifting social gathering restrictions in phases. The University has resumed normal office operations starting April 25, 2022. Laboratories and facilities may adopt additional anti-epidemic measures, such as rapid antigen test (RAT), as justified by their operations.
PREVENTIVE MEASURES IN LABORATORIES
Members should follow the standard anti-epidemic measures such as mask-wearing, personal and environmental hygiene while resuming operation.
Social Distancing and Personal Hygiene
While working in the lab area, users must wear a face mask in addition to normally required protective gears, i.e. safety glasses and lab coat. Everyone should maintain a social distance of 1.5 meter where possible, and wash his/her hands frequently.
Everyone should also check body temperature at least once a day using an infra-red thermometer. People with a fever or respiratory symptoms should seek medical assistance at once, and are not allowed to work in the laboratories until they are fully recovered or tested negative for COVID-19.
Application of GERMAGIC Antimicrobial Coating
To avoid disturbance of research materials and equipment, GERMAGIC antimicrobial coating has not been applied to lab areas. If lab users want to request for spraying coating in their laboratories, please contact the Campus Management Office (CMO) at cmofs@ust.hk.
Enforcement by DSO and HSEO
Departmental Safety Officers (DSOs) should enforce the above preventive measures all the time and the Health, Safety and Environment Office (HSEO) staff will regularly inspect lab areas to ensure compliance.
