Research Laboratories and Central Research Facilities Open with Restricted Access
Central research facilities (CRFs) and laboratories are open to RPgs and TPgs upon the agreement of their faculty supervisors or program directors.
Ugs that need to carry out lab works for their Final Year Projects (FYP) should consult their UG coordinators in advance of working in laboratories and follow strictly HSEO's preventive measures in laboratories.
PREVENTIVE MEASURES IN LABORATORIES
Social Distancing and Personal Hygiene
All laboratories will resume normal capacity with the vaccination or regular testing requirements.
While working in the lab area, users must wear a face mask in addition to normally required protective gears, i.e. safety glasses and lab coat. Everyone should maintain a social distance of 1.5 meter where possible, and wash his/her hands frequently.
Everyone should also check body temperature at least once a day using an infra-red thermometer or at one of the Fever Self-checking Stations on campus. People with a fever or respiratory symptoms should seek medical assistance at once, and are not allowed to work in the laboratories until they are fully recovered or tested negative for COVID-19.
Application of GERMAGIC Antimicrobial Coating
To avoid disturbance of research materials and equipment, GERMAGIC antimicrobial coating has not been applied to lab areas. If lab users want to request for spraying coating in their laboratories, please contact the Campus Management Office (CMO) at email@example.com.
Enforcement by DSO and HSEO
Departmental Safety Officers (DSOs) should enforce the above preventive measures all the time and the Health, Safety and Environment Office (HSEO) staff will regularly inspect lab areas to ensure compliance.
